THE POMPEY B. HINES FOUNDATION

We trace our history to Liberty County Georgia and the Sand Hills Plantation ; Aug. 16, 1845 Pompey B. Hines was born into slavery and at the close of the Civil War he went to work , only work he knew was that of a farmer commonly known as a Sharecropper . Even in the late 1800's it was also common for White Farmers to be Sharecroppers . Upon his death , July 5, 1919 our father ; Pompey B. Hines had acquired more than 450 acres of land .

Pompey B. Hines left a rich legacy , the father of 17 children and today there are more than 600 living descendants of Pompey B. Hines . We are still searching for words that will express our gratitude; "For building the roads that we have traveled to success."

The Pompey B. Hines Foundation manages the business of the Pompey B. Hines Family Reunion and the Lillie S. Upshaw Scholarship Fund
